I get a little crazy when it comes to opportunities like this where I get to experience music up close and personal and forget about the world for a day. A marathon to test my abilities to stand for several hours at a time with little water and food and in temperatures well in the triple digits. But the payoff in the end makes it all worth while when all is said and done.

I’d like to introduce you to The Morning Crew. At the gate before sunrise. Even before many of the event staff. Without these guys, getting through the day would have been much much harder.

And a good couple hundred yard sprint landed us the best spot at the festival. Front and center with a sea of tens of thousands just over our shoulders.
People in every direction…
There is something that sets good great musicians from the rest. They’re self-consciousness is completely nonexistent. They can stand in front of more people than they can see or in an empty room and the result is the same. They play because it’s in their blood and in their heart and it doesn’t matter who loves them and who hates them. The just play.
Brett Dennen is one of those musicians. I can’t explain just how much I enjoyed seeing him perform. Please, if you ever get a chance to see him live, cancel all other plans and treat yourself. You won’t be disappointed. (Website | Myspace)

Now how often do you get the opportunity to witness some of your most inspirational musicians back to back? I’ll bet not very often. Pure surreal experience. Full set of both John Mayer and DMB so close I could die. And if I did, I’d die happy.
